Adam X brings his revered label Sonic Groove to Basement. The NY-born, Berlin based DJ made a name for himself in the early ‘90s with the Storm Rave parties he threw with his brother, Frankie Bones. At that time, techno was mutating quickly, and they seized upon its harder, unwaveringly underground strains. “There was something raw about the way he came across,” recalls Function. “It definitely changed my life.” Today, Adam’s curation and productions for Sonic Groove, L.I.E.S., Bite and others continue and extend this tradition. In the spirit of the Storm Raves, he co-headlines with Frankie Bones, and is joined by label signees Realmz and Maedon. The former trades in darkly honed & atmospheric techno, while the later burns the candle at both ends; this year’s “Escape to Berlin” EP is a modern update of classic ‘90s hardcore techno mayhem.
