BASEMENT: Nastia / Lobster / Holden Federico
STUDIO: Ash Lauryn / MoMA Ready / Ariel Me Llamo

Nastia makes her BASEMENT debut. The Ukrainian artist has one of the busiest calendars in electronic music, with a list of shows across the globe that finds hardly a single interruption. No wonder: Nastia’s intuitive command of techno sets her apart. As deft a mixer as anyone, she marshalls flawless technique in service of a joyous and unfiltered love of the music. Tracing her roots back to early years as a dancer, Nastia describes a moment of sudden creative blossoming that brought her to DJing. Called to the decks, perhaps her greatest strength is her undiluted connection to the essential power of music. Vault Sessions resident Lobster joints from the Netherlands. A mainstay in Amsterdam’s fertile rave scene, Lobster knows how to steer a dancefloor into a deep rush. His precise selection and sleek finesse turn even heavy rides into glides. Holden Federico returns. Few artists are quite as focused on the elemental, defiant and raw potential of ‘90s techno. Drawing on a well of unimpeachable classics and DJ tools, Federico calls forth the spirit of another era.

Ash Lauryn embodies the best in modern house: soulful, expressive and rooted in a deep lineage of Black artistry and innovation, her sets glow with a timeless power. As an organizer, she’s been a major force in the current house renaissance, fostering strong relationships with fellow artists and using her Underground & Black platform. As a producer and artist, she’s continued to evolve, pushing herself into new terrain while remaining tapped into that essential corporeality that animated the very first house tracks. MoMA Ready brings an impossible swagger to classic forms, upping the tempo but letting tracks breathe. Whether DJing or producing, the Haus of Altr founder seems to ooze charisma, bringing an incendiary cool to the mix. As he says in the liner notes for his most recent EP, “Music for smoking DJs and clubs. Use with caution. You're welcome.” Paraguay’s Ariel Me Llamo is a standout talent in his home country and a pillar of the local community. His productions have a white knuckle intensity, wasting no time getting down to business and bringing dancers to the edge.
