BASEMENT: Talismann / Kyruh / Concrete Husband
STUDIO: Salome / Matas / Ryker

Talismann returns. The Dutch artist is a standout producer with a penchant for high BPM rigor and gnarly percussion. His techno calls to mind the merciless late ‘90s while also inviting in some heavy, jacking energy. There’s an invocational energy to his works, a steely vision that tempers the all-out momentum with subtle gestures and a sneering control. Kyruh steps up. NY’s best-in-class techno demolition expert never fails to deliver. Her sets are truly destructive affairs, but she never loses track of the funk and the soul. There’s a reason you’re seeing her name everywhere - whenever Kyruh’s on, it’s on. Concrete Husband’s licentious energy completes the lineup. The multidisciplinary artist has a rich career as an improviser and composer, working in the upper echelons of high culture. But when he’s DJing, the full freak energy comes out. Affirming a dedication to “queer narratives of psychedelic mania and sweaty sensuality,” Concrete Husband throttles the dancefloor with unhinged, euphoric energy.

Tbilisi’s Salome takes a day off from her regular gig as all-out techno demon to helm STUDIO. The Herrensauna resident is beloved for her epic, truly destructive, distortion-caked sound. But underneath the madness is a rock solid groove, balancing the acrid textures with some serious sweetness. She turned out the second room at WIRE Festival this May; let’s see what she can do with STUDIO. Matas bathes the room with atmosphere. Whether going in or keeping things chill, there’s a depth and dubby spaciousness that pervades his sets. Salon founder Ryker drizzles a candy hued glaze over their mixes. Bringing a heavy club kid flavor, they weave anthemic moments with detours into the delirious and strange.
