Pornceptual takes over the club for the first time. The infamous Berlin queer collective is celebrating 10 years at the vanguard of erotic exploration and raving. Their events are more than just parties, they’re expansive and wild mergings of the lurid and artistically visionary. For this special edition, they’ve invited a mix of Berlin and NY voices who share their vision. Flavia Laus is a resident of Pornceptual as well as both Gegen and Tresor - not bad - and one of the standouts of a new generation redefining techno at its global epicenter. Her lithe, impactful sound embraces techno’s urgent and captivating aspects, drawing audiences in with an energy that can veer from subliminal to full-on. Fellow Pornceptual resident Deepneue is a transplant from “the bowels of Portugal,” and certainly his sound reflects a subterranean rawness. Though his broadly-ranging output includes experimental film scores and minimalistic tracks, when it’s time to go hard, Deepneue holds nothing back. Katie Rex joins the lineup in a moment of game-recognizing-game. Her BOUND party has been a parallel institution of Pornceptual, pushing a similarly fearless mission with a yen for throttling techno.
In STUDIO, The Carry Nation continues their reign. The duo has been active for over a decade in NY and are reaching new highs the longer they go. Few artists have mastered the joyously uninhibited side of house music quite like they have. A Carry Nation set is something to behold: a true deluge of horny abandon, soaring expression and downright throbbing grooves. Jeffrey Sfire is a peer. Active for years in the US queer underground, Sfire draws on italo disco, hi-nrg and other explosively colorful subgenres to steer dancers to a space of bliss. x3butterfly represents NY’s new school: house, breaks, inter-genre cross cuts and an unyielding sense of freedom.
