BASEMENT: DJ Bone / Analog Soul / Rose Kourts
STUDIO: Perel / Fatherhood

Detroit’s DJ Bone brings the soul fire. He’s a master technician and an avowed practitioner of undiluted, classic techno. Bone’s three-turntable sets see him juggling between vinyl records with a fluency and impactful grace that is beyond the reach of many digital DJs. In his younger years, his technical abilities and creative vision set him apart; in today’s landscape, he’s one of the last of a dying breed. In his productions as well, released often on his own Subject Detroit label, he distills the taut, jazzy drive of his hometown to its purest essence. NY’s Analog Soul knows what’s up. Rooted in the old ways but ever-evolving, the duo has established themselves as committed practitioners of techno in an deeply-rooted, true school form. They have the history, the knowledge, the chops and the ears to prove it. A quintessential Analog Soul set will mix in forgotten classics, epic rarities, incredible deep cuts and some new shit too. Rose Kourts completes the lineup. Amongst her peers, Rose Kourts does something special: she makes techno all her own. Whether pulling from the nastiest corners of the acid dungeon or dropping euphoric, soaring anthems, Rose Kourts’ personal stamp and sense of buoyancy are always evident.

DFA’s Perel makes her debut at STUDIO. The German artist is a standout exemplar of chuggy, hedonistic disco-house. Her sets foreground a wiggly funk, sparkly joy and thick, naughty low end undercurrent that’s irresistible. Perel’s tracks amplify the driving determination at the core of the genre, with a cinematic punkiness that gives an extra bite to her grooves. She’s well-matched with Fatherhood, the duo of Michael Magnan and Physical Therapy. Two top-tier selectors with a knack for the deliciously tweaked, their b2b chemistry expands on a shared sense of play and trippy, sleazy fun.
