Berghain 09 reflects Vatican Shadow’s composite musical influences and relationship to Berghain as a club. Stylistically, the two vinyls are divided between clubbier and experimental electronics, with vocal samples of Genesis Breyer P-Orridge acting as a bridge between the two.

■ VATICAN SHADOW ■ the Techno outfit from multi-media artist Dominick Fernow, who began this project in 2010, with concrete percussion, luscious synths, and metallic drums created by separating stems onto cassettes, which were then re-layered and collaged live. In the flesh Vatican Shadow brings a physicality and even celebratory energy rarely seen in Techno offsetting the hypnotic ambient melodies of his tracks to a thundering drum assault. a true expression of the fear and fearlessness that fuels the music.

■ HEADLESS HORSEMAN ■ from the shadows to the stage, Headless Horseman’s musical efforts are meticulously executed without compromise. The eponymous Headless releases sum up the modus operandi of this artist: dark, raw and rhythmic IDM flavoured Techno. His hardware only live sets at Berghain, Berlin Atonal, Boiler Room and worldwide have showcased the Horseman’s insurmountable skills as a producer and cemented his place in todays techno scene.

■ VOLVOX ■ based in NYC since 2011, Volvox is a unique character on the US scene guaranteed to bring a high energy show that lights up dance floors with an undeniable spirit. A dominant force on the Brooklyn underground scene and an ardent supporter of the underground, she is known for tough, stripped-back techno and groovy, acid-flavored sets.
