BASEMENT: Héctor Oaks / Kyruh / Jek
STUDIO: Gerd Janson / Dee Diggs / Jason Kendig

Héctor Oaks’ résumé is one of the most impressive in techno today: a resident at the revered Bassiani as well as Berlin’s best party, Herrensauna, label boss for the impeccable OAKS and KAOS labels and a master of the all-vinyl set. He’s a rare DJ who can keep up with the old-school masters while sounding utterly current. His sets bristle and explode with the tight focus of purist techno, while also mixing moments of snickering flash that call back to ‘90s rave. An unstoppably charismatic force in the booth, his set at last year’s Wire Festival was a standout. Kyruh was another Wire highlight and has been a significant presence at BASEMENT over the last year and change. A true rising star on the decks, she lets it rip without hesitation, delivering a high velocity techno firestorm that refuses to relent. And the world has taken notice: Kyruh has been steadily working her way across North America and will be returning to Europe in the spring. Jek returns to the club for the third time in as many months. His sets bloom and glow with a warm energy, diving into flowy techno, breaks and basslines with a cool, decisive touch.

Running Back boss Gerd Janson makes his STUDIO debut. Among house music lovers, he is a household name, a global ambassador for joyously breezy, classically disco-tinted and slightly wonked out club bombs. The artists he’s worked with are some of the most impressive in the field: Roman Flügel, Mr. G, Todd Terje and Leon Vynehall are just a handful. In his sets, Gerd plays with an abundance of precision and generosity, filling the room with warm, soaring melodies, thick, anthemic bass lines and perfect moments. Much of the same can be said for Dee Diggs. A must-see, Diggs brings a joyous energy to her house sets, luxuriating in a rich history of Black expression while sounding completely modern. It’s been impossible to miss Diggs in the last few years, with a touring schedule that has taken her across the globe to stages both prestigious and firmly underground. Jason Kendig completes the lineup. The co-founder of SF’s seminal Honey Soundsystem always mixes unabashed delight with serious business, with sets that unfurl with an elegance and poise few can match. A regular at STUDIO, his sets bring a unique perfection to the room.
