BASEMENT: DJ Stingray 313 / Perc / Akua
STUDIO: The Carry Nation / Dee Diggs

DJ Stingray 313 is a BASEMENT must-see, a veteran whose creativity is still peaking decades after his debut. Almost single-handedly responsible for the resurgence in Electro over the last five years, his unstoppable DJ sets are consistently some of the most mind-blowing in electronic music today. If you’ve never seen him play, consider yourself warned. You will not be left unchanged. After a year away, Perc finally returns to BASEMENT. The industrial techno producer is amongst the top brass in his field, practicing the art of savage bludgeoning with the force of a blacksmith and the finesse of a fine artist. His most recent transmissions on his own Perc Trax show him dispensing any challengers with ease. An uptick in tempos pushes his already unrelenting sound into pure hardcore, handily keeping pace with and surpassing many of the younger generation who play fast-and-furious. Pack a helmet, because Perc’s bringing the hammer down. Akua is one of the club’s most consistently exciting regulars. Her high tempo sets interweave terse, lunging techno, riding a constantly-cresting wave of energy. Recent appearances overseas have seen her rightly cement her global reputation as one of NY’s finest.

The Carry Nation and Dee Diggs made a huge impression when they played STUDIO together during its opening weeks in Sept. Now they return to pick up where they left off. Carry residents Nita and Will Automagic have honed their interplay for over a decade, working tirelessly in the NY queer underground. Exhibiting a fluency with house music history and perfect sense of timing, their command of the dancefloor brings dancers to a classic state of hedonistic exuberance. Dee Diggs has been on a tear across NY. Her sets, rooted firmly in house music’s Black & queer lineages, embrace dance music’s most evocative and expressive potentialities. It’s pure expression when she’s on deck.
