BASEMENT: .VRIL live / Yonti / Elle Dee
STUDIO: Roi Perez / GIDEÖN / Meilgaarden

.VRIL was one of the first artists to play at BASEMENT, and his sets have always brought a special quality to the room. He’s able to hit a sweet spot that few artists can, crafting intricate and immaculate hypnotic techno that seems to both float in the ether and also fill the floor with molten energy. His mesmerizing workouts come loaded with a nasty menace that cannot be ignored or denied. From his earliest heaters like “Vortekz” to the more recent “Animist,” .VRIL has consistently found an indelible space between high octane energy and meditative depth. Yonti cut his teeth at the Block, a club renowned for its immaculate sound and purist approach. He’s now relocated to Berlin, but that ethos lives on: Yonti rips into his sets with a ferocity that’s matched only by his precision. His sets seethe with a pristine grittiness, cruising at a brisk pace and coursing with feverish energy. Elle Dee completes the lineup. The BASEMENT regular matches the daring of both guests with a searing homebrew of cutting edge techno.

Roi Perez is back at STUDIO. The P-Bar regular is one of Europe’s leading selectors and an outstanding queer voice in modern house music. The briefest encounter with his music will make one thing undeniably clear: Perez gets down. His sets are joyous, libidinous and uninhibited sessions, invoking the cathartic desire of disco, the thick grooves of house, the sweat drenched chug of cosmic, the hypnotic pull of tribal, and on and on. Other people can try to name it, but Perez feels it, and you will too. London’s GIDEÖN keeps the energy rolling. A true force in his hometown’s nightlife, GIDEÖN’s 30+ years of DJing, organizing, label curation imbue his set with a depth and soul that cannot be faked. Mister Sister founder Meilgaarden completes the bill with a healthy dose of tripped out rollers. A staple in NY since arriving in 2018, her sets thrum with an unstoppable force and no small amount of bright, shimmering color.
